Three business-related amendments passed by Florida voters should bring a measure of relief to homeowners, landowners and some businesses. Homeowners will get property tax breaks on storm protection and renewable energy investments made to their homes, in turn boosting business for companies providing related products and services. A second amendment gives landowners property tax exemptions for any lots they set aside for preservation while a third will ensure that working waterfront property is appraised according to its current use rather than its "highest and best use." The last amendment will help protect the struggling marine industry, which has been strapped because potential development of condominiums and waterfront resorts have caused the taxable value of their properties to rise.
